Sketching and sports day

We made the most of the good weather over the last few weeks. We had so much fun on sports day. Well done to everyone who took part.
Last Friday we went outside to sketch the convent. We looked at architecture and skylines on the interactive white board before we went outside to observe and draw. We incorporated light and shading to our sketches.

Report Writing

This month we learning about report writing in literacy. We read all about China in Geography and we worked in groups to create reports about China. When we were finished we presented them to the class. Here are a few examples of our reports. 

Fun with Money

This week in maths we are learning about money. We did some research into the history of Ireland's currency and lots of the class brought in notes and coins they have collected from different countries. We are learning how to add and subtract money and we are working on word problems involving money. We are really enjoying this topic.

On the 7th of March our class took part in Córfhéile na Scoileanna which took place at the Basketball arena in Tallaght.

 We sang three songs 'Beauty and the Beast' 'How Far I'll go' and 'Síoraí Spraoi'. A big thanks to Deirdre Lumsden for helping us with our singing and dancing.

Grandparents Day

Last week we celebrated grandparents day to tell all the amazing grandparents how wonderful they are. We discussed how special our grandparents are to us and all the things they do for us.
We made accrostic poems for them and wrote a short piece about our own grandparents.
We were delighted to see so many grandparents visit our classroom.

A Trip to the Ark

Before the Christmas holidays we took a trip to the Ark in Temple Bar to see A Christmas Carol.
We really enjoyed the trip and were very impressed by the actors performance.
